Two Ways To Learn
Phone Photo Prep for Engraving - Tier 1

1.5 hours, live over Zoom or Google Meet.
Ever wonder why your engravings do not look like the ones you see online? It all starts with the photo. We take an ordinary photo and turn it into an engrave ready image using only the apps on your phone. By the end of the session you will have a photo that is ready to engrave.
What is covered:
What makes a good starting photo.
Background removal and cleanup.
Contrast and detail adjustments.
Shape cropping including ovals.
Using ChatGPT to enhance and clean up your image.
How to know when your photo is ready to engrave.
Please note: This session covers phone based photo editing only. LightBurn and live engraving testing are not included. Once your photo is ready you take it and test at your own pace on your own machine. If you want to do the live engraving testing together, that is Tier 2.
Full Photo Engraving Training - Tier 2
$500
3 hours, live over Zoom or Google Meet.
This is the complete session. We start with everything covered in Tier 1, then take it further. Once your photo is ready we bring it into LightBurn, make the adjustments for your final engraving, and run a live test so you see real results. We also run your actual photo on our own system during the session, so we are both working hands on at the same time.
What is covered:
Everything in Tier 1.
Importing your photo into LightBurn.
Image adjustments within LightBurn.
Live engraving test and review of results on your machine.
Live test run on our system using your photo.
Fine tuning based on what both tests show.
Questions throughout the entire session.
Please note: We recommend black poster board while you dial in settings. It behaves much like most materials and costs far less.

How it works
Forget the classroom format. This is a shop talk session where you drive the conversation. No itinerary, no structured lesson plan, just real answers to your real questions within your time frame. If all you want to do is ask questions the whole time, that is exactly what we will do. You work on your own equipment in real time while we guide you through every step.
Before you book
Lasers: These sessions are built on CO2 and fiber systems. Some methods may translate to diode, but we do not run diode machines and cannot speak to their settings. You are welcome to join, just know our guidance comes from CO2 and fiber experience.
Materials: Granite, slate, black powder coated tumblers and black acrylic. Different lasers handle different materials, so know what yours can and cannot do before enrolling.
Software: We teach with Samsung Gallery, PicsArt, ChatGPT, and LightBurn. Android users get the most out of it. iPhone users are welcome, as PicsArt and ChatGPT are both available on your operating system. Some steps may look slightly different from what is demonstrated on Android. We do not cover desktop editors such as Photoshop or Lightroom.
We do recommend coming in with a basic familiarity of your engraving software and laser machine. Photo engraving is one of the more challenging skills in the craft, and having your fundamentals in place beforehand allows us to focus the class on what matters most, getting great results from your photos, rather than troubleshooting the basics along the way.
Booking and payment
Payment is required to hold your session. All payments are non refundable, but if you need to reschedule your payment is held and applied to your new date. Sessions can be booked up to 14 days ahead. Your meeting link is sent before your start time.
